There are paper-heart people—fragile and delicate. There are stone-heart people—they are strong but allow themselves to be surrounded. There are scissors-heart people—who can either create or tear apart.
Alma decided to be paper. Alma was there by choice, or rather, by an infinity of choices. In this place, there might not be any villains, because we are all capable of making choices.
What those choices were and how they transformed this story into what it is—that is the secret of this show.

This book, which accompanies the performance “The Girl Who Painted Birds” (A menina que pintava pássaros), allows us to look inward and realize that our choices can change the world—that they can interfere with the freedom of others or even with our own happiness.
There is no single path; there is no absolute right or wrong. It is a reflection we invite you to undertake.
Rock, paper, or scissors… what would you choose to be?
